In another blow to a beleaguered UK high street, Clinton Cards has slipped into administration as its largest supplier has called time on its debt. US supplier American Greetings bought up outstanding loans from the company's banks (RBS and Barclays) and immediately called them in.

Bring your own device (BYOD) scheme is due to be rolled out in Hampshire county council by the end of 2012. The Scheme allows employees to use personal devices for business purposes.

The council has already started trialling a programme to give staff access to IT systems from their personal electronic devices. System and data security issues are considered crucial elements to support this scheme. Read More..

Ricoh UK, is urging public sector bodies across Europe to adopt electronic invoicing, with new research revealing that European governments could save at least €40 billion annually[1], by further embracing the digital economy and moving to electronic invoicing.

The former Finance Director of the Royal Academy of Music, Janet Whitehouse has admitted to defrauding the institution across a four year period of more than £200,000. The various fraudulent activities included claims for work which hadn't actually been carried out, and for accommodation for her son, paid for by the Academy.

A Sainsbury’s potato buyer accepted £5 million in corrupt payments from a key supplier, staying at Claridge’s and taking luxury holidays in return for a lucrative contract. The buyer was lavished with "excessive gifts and hospitality" by directors of Greenvale, which supplies almost half of the supermarket giant’s potatoes, a court has heard.

A peculiar feature of the corruption was that it was self-funding. Greenvale were not paying for it, Sainsbury's were paying for the corruption of their own buyer and this was achieved by overcharging Sainsbury's. Read more.
