Royal Marsden accounts employee jailed for £640,000 fraud

An NHS worker along with co-conspirators was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday 29th July, 2014. The fraudsters defrauded the Royal Marsden NHS Trust of more than £640,000, which was allocated for vital medicine and equipment.

Stacey Tipler, had been with the Trust for 10 years and used her position of trust in the accounts department where she had access to the payments system, and removed the bank details of suppliers and replaced them with the account details of people she had met through her then fiancé.

The face of fraud becomes younger

Fraud cases totalling £317 million were recorded in the first half of 2014, according to KPMG’s latest Fraud Barometer.  The figure represents a 39 percent drop compared to the same period last year, but the number of frauds has remained constant.

UK SMEs carry late payment burden of £39.4 billion

According to research by Bacs Payment Schemes Limited (Bacs) the late payment debt burden shouldered by UK businesses has reached £46.1 billion. Bacs, looked at Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs employing up to 250 people) and large corporates (employing 250 plus people) in the UK.
