German steel giant, ThyssenKrupp AG has announced plans to implement SAP Ariba in order to manage supplier purchases and payments. The company said it's part of a broader effort at the group to make better use of technology to reduce costs and maximise efficiency.  The suppliers will be connected to the software system and transmit their invoices which will automatically compare bills and orders for consistency.

The project is part of ThyssenKrupp’s broad-based programme for the integration and automation of administrative tasks ranging from human resources to finance and logistics. The initiative includes the use of SAP’s high-speed analytics software HANA, which is designed to accelerate data processing and generate additional insight from business intelligence applications.
