Survey finds growth in accountancy jobs posts

Tuesday 28th October, 2014

According to figures compiled by Robert Walters a specialist recruiter, the number of advertised accountancy jobs has grown by 10% since 2013.

The recruiter's UK Job Index tracker compares the total number of vacancies posted to leading job boards and websites from the first to the third quarters of 2013 and 2014.

Employers in London generated the largest increase, advertising 6% more accountancy jobs by the end of this period than a year ago.

However, demand from a number of key regions, comprising of the Midlands and the North West remains largely flat, suggesting that businesses across a wider section of the country are looking to boost headcount as the effects of the economic recovery spread.

Andrew Setchell, Director of Accountancy Recruitment at Robert Walters, comments:

"The durability of the economic recovery has provided a platform for increased investment, pushing up demand for accountants as businesses set out to deliver on ambitious new projects and objectives."

"Employers continue to seek a wide range of professionals, from part-qualified accountants to those with more senior levels of experience. Demand is particularly acute for ACA and CIMA candidates from the newly qualified stage to 1-3 years PQE."

"Yet with recruitment and training schemes pared back during the recession, competition for candidates with the right skills and experience continues to climb, making the prospect of salary rises an ever more likely reality."
