| LGA ends multi-million pound outsourcing contract with Liberata |
|
Friday 30th January, 2015 In a joint statement with Liberata, The Local Government Association has announced that it has brought an early end to its multi-million pound outsourcing deal with the company. Last year, the LGA announced that it was looking for a 17.6% cut in the cost of its 2008 outsourcing deal with Liberata following a significant reduction in the LGA’s size and costs. The outsourcing deal covered provision for finance, IT and facilities management. However, the LGA’s staffing levels have reduced from around 450 to just under 270 over the past year, representing a significant cost reduction that the LGA wanted to see reflected in cut in the Liberata deal. In an unrelated statement, former Chairman of the LGA, Sir Merrick Cockell was quoted in the past as saying that; “The world that we inhabit now might be different to a predictable world of 5 years ago, where you thought you could write a long term contract…now..I think you’ve got to think seriously when you’re looking at outsourcing to build in unknown flexibility” Sir Merrick stepped down as Chairman of the LGA in July last year. |
