Outsourcing giant Capita, has been named as preferred bidder to become the shared services provider for five district councils. The contract is expected to be valued at £139m over nine years.

The contract would be between Capita and South Oxfordshire, Vale of White Horse, Hart, Havant and Mendip District Councils, will see Capita introduce a shared services platform that has the flexibility to meet the individual needs of each council.

Capita will deliver a suite of corporate services including revenues and benefits, customer services, human resources, IT and procurement.

Formal appointment as is subject to approval from each of the councils’ cabinets.
