British Airways moves into the next phase with SunGard's AvantGard Treasury

Tuesday, 18 October 2011

British Airways, the UK’s flagship airline, moves into a new phase with SunGard to roll out a cash management solution across operations in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America including sites in Hong Kong, Delhi, Johannesburg and Sao Paolo.

When completed worldwide, the airline will benefit from an enhanced visibility of its operations including treasury, cash and risk  - both on a regional and global scale.

The long standing partnership with SunGard started 12 years ago when British Airways made the decision to streamline its cash management process by developing SunGard’s AvantGard solution to help integration and automation of cash management and forecasting globally. SunGard’s AvantGard is a leading liquidity management solution for private and public sector organisations.

Mike Maybury, Cash Manager, group treasury for British Airways, said: "We chose SunGard's AvantGard to support our global treasury operation and to automate our cashflow forecasting. AvantGard will facilitate effective local cash management at our regional hubs via improved visibility and control of their cash positions, while also delivering to central Treasury consolidated views of cash flows and currency exposures worldwide."
