Red Nose Day - issues not so far away

Friday 15th March, 2013

As Red Nose Day celebrates its 25th anniversary today we thought we'd look at how some of those issues are not so far away as you might think. In fact, some of them may be sitting right now within your supply chain.

With the tough economic conditions around the world likely to continue, many organisations will need to create more value from what they already have. In some cases, those savings will come at the expense of the 3rd, 4th or 5th tier suppliers and those working for them. When those 5th tier suppliers then outsource their work, potentially to an unregulated body - the chain starts to get murky and health, safety and human rights issues can creep into the chain. Organisations need to look closely at their corporate social responsibility and make sure they're doing what they can to ensure some of the events of last year, such as a factory fire which trapped and killed more than 100 workers in the Walmart supply chain aren't repeated.

Comic Relief works to help those trapped in poverty and the issues that creates, and has become one of the most successful charity events in the UK and raised a record breaking £74.3 million in 2011. Help them raise even more this year!
