With many councils outsourcing, or consolidating functions, the news that London councils are continuing to look at ways to save money comes as no surprise. In fact many are turning their attentions to how IT can help to protect them against fraud and error. Solution providers FISCAL Technologies have announced that Westminster City Council is the latest London borough to adopt their solution to run alongside their existing Oracle accounting system, making it the 20th (out of 32 boroughs) to do so.
In fact, the company says that more than 85 government organisations in the UK now use their AP Forensics® suite to detect payment errors and guard against fraud, collectively saving over £1 million of public sector funds every year.
Considering the stormy UK economic climate with persistent budget cuts and further austerity measures planned , the continued uptake of FISCAL’s AP Forensics® software is seen as testimony to just how effective the software is and how quickly benefits are seen at the bottom line. Within a context of shrinking IT budgets and staff numbers, more and more boroughs are electing to use FISCAL’s cloud-based Hosted Service, where users access the AP Forensics® software through a secure web interface.
“We have been working with government agencies for over 10 years now, and have a deep understanding of the needs of their accounts payable teams,” said Chris Windsor, Director of Customer Development. “We recognise that government-based finance teams are accountable to the communities they serve to deliver real value, and we are proud to be playing a part in both protecting and recovering public spend.”
