| Procurement efficiencies key to hitting Govt targets |
|
Friday 28th June, 2013 In response to Wednesday's Spending Review, the MOD has announced what it's calling an "innovative deal" with the Cabinet Office to secure efficiency savings via a new procuremnet initiative, underpinned by the Treasury. In what's likely to be seen as a lack of faith in the current system, the Government Procurement Service, in conjunction with the Cabinet Office Efficiency and Reform Group, will now take over some of the IT and other procurement processes to deliver a targeted £300m worth of savings. The NHS budget has been ringfenced, but is also targeted with making £1bn of savings further procurement efficiencies. |
