New push for SME digital procurement progress

The Scottish Government plans to inject £360,000 into its Supplier Development Programme, with the aim of helping more than 2,000 businesses of all sizes develop their capaciy in bidding and fulfilling public contracts.

The move, which has been welcomed by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) will enable SMEs to gain guidance on electronic transactions via seminars, online activities and training days.

New regulations on the way for Forex transactions

New regulations in the foreign exchange market could come into place in the next couple of weeks following plans to clean up the market by Chancellor George Osborne and the international Financial Stability Board (FSB). The forex industry is largely unregulated and left in the hands of bank traders who execute deals on behalf of global organisations. A large number of the deals move through London.

African invoice fraud holding back development

A Washington based organisation - Global Financial Integrity (GFI) has highlighted signifcant global invoice fraud which is hitting some of the world's poorest nations. GFI say that the money draining out of the countries add up to more than double the international aid money received, and stifles efforts to raise people out of poverty.
