Tesco Chief Financial Officer to Step Down

Tesco announced on Friday that their Chief Financial Officer, Laurie McIlwee has decided to step down. The annoucement follows last month's news that the supermarket's market share had shrunk to 27% - its lowest level for almost 10 years.

CBI identifies a strong re-shore trend

NAO says Cabinet Office shared service strategy needs clarity

The Cabinet Office will have to work with other government departments to ensure that the full benefits of its shared services strategy are realised and that service is maintained, according to a report from the National Audit Office today.

In December 2012, the Cabinet Office published its Next Generation Shared Services strategy. This set out how it intended to reduce the cost of administering finance, human resources and procurement services through sharing back-office functions. The Cabinet Office estimated that the savings would be between £400 million and £600 million per annum. The estimated implementation cost was between £44 million and £95 million. To date, the total cost of participating departments has not been collated. The Cabinet Office spending to date on the strategy was £9.8 million.

Basware wins Euro 2.5m AP automation and e-invoicing deal

Basware has signed a significant AP and e-invoicing agreement with a major New Zealand construction firm. The agreement includes a license-based solution for invoice automation powered by Alusta - Basware's cloud-based platform for Purchase-to-Pay and services for receiving e-invoices and scanning paper invoices. Basware is helping the customer to activate their suppliers to send e-invoices and provides a portal for supplier collaboration. The solution and services will be implemented in New Zealand and Australia. The value of the agreement is EUR 2.5 million over three years.
