At the beginning of the year, we sat down, sat back and listened to what people had to say about their P2P experiences - wanting to identify some of the trends and challenges embedded in some of the existing AP and P2P processes. We hoped to gain some real insight into the day to day issues facing finance teams in the UK. And we weren't disappointed. Some of the reuslts weren't too far removed from what we had anticipated, but others were more unexpected - including the 18% of respondents who reported recent cases of fraud within their organisations.

If Twickenham stadium seemed more difficult than usual to get to, then perhaps a visit from a certain flame haired Prince of the Realm had something to do with it, as I eventually made my way past various enthralled rugby juniors, and took my seat in a room nearby. Guest blogger: Drew Hofler
My name is Drew, and I’m a paperholic. I do not own a kindle or an iPad, and I have never read an eBook. My driveway is one of three houses on my block with a daily newspaper laying on the blacktop (he's American - Ed) every morning. I get a rush from the tactile thrill of heavy stationery or journal paper, and the weight it seems to impart to my words as I write them.
The scent of a library or bookstore is an irresistible siren song. And yes, if a document or report is more than two pages long, I will often print it to read it and make notes on it.

And when it is, there’s often a sense of inevitability or a sense that business has been queuing up waiting for the product to appear - and so it seems with the creation of Tungsten Corp, created by City legend Edmund Truell, solely to purchase OB10.

How often are the words “collaborate” and “celebrate” drummed into us in our pursuit of better AP and wider P2P practices? Well, on Tuesday that was literally the case as 80 attendees to the APN awards evening picked up bongo drums and boom-whackers and instantly created a harmonious, beautifully orchestrated symphony of music…OK, not quite, but after a bit of effort and a not inconsiderable amount of sweat – by working together (yes, they really did pick up bongo drums), they actually produced something which worked in a very short space of time. More than that, something that was fun – something worth celebrating. A bit like working in AP.
