A new white paper commissioned by V1, reveals how electronic document management can help the NHS reach its goal of delivering £20 billion in efficiency savings by 2015. Earlier this year Jeremy Hunt, Health Secretary, said that the NHS will be ‘paperless’ by 2018.

According to a new report by the European Central Bank (ECB), since 2007 Card fraud has been on a declining trend, thanks to technological advances that are making transactions safer. However, fraud is migrating to countries where the technology remains less developed.

Two of the services provided by Thurrock Council's strategic partner Serco have been taken back in house. The announcement was made during a meeting last Wednesday. Describing the decision as "very urgent" Council Leader, John Kent said that the move will save the council money and aims to make the move by 1st August.

Drugs companies have been accused of making use of a legal loophole to overcharge the NHS by several millions of pounds. The news follows an investigation by undercover Daily Telegraph reporters which revealed pharmaceutical companies entering into deals with chemists for so-called "specials" - drugs which fall outside the NHS price regulations. The "scam" involves the pricing of around 20,000 drugs - some of them - such as an epilepsy drug prescribed to several thousands of patients, was inflated by 24 times.
